Australia Will Review SOL To Adjust Foreign Workers Demand

The Australian Government is dedicated to refurbish the skilled migration system. This is done to meet the increasing demand for foreign workers and driving economic growth. The immigration department will review the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) to evaluate the labour market requirements of the country.
Michaela Cash, Minister for Employment and Skills recently announced the review. This will address the concerns of almost 500 jobs listed on the current SOL. It is said that some of the current SOL occupations do not reflect the demand for foreign workers in some industries.
It is important to address these concerns to avoid any hurdles to the continued growth of the Australian economy. The current Skilled Occupation List of Australia was last updated in March 2019. Thus, the review of these occupations is necessary to ensure that there are enough workers to support the 10 year AUD 100 billion infrastructure program announced by the Government.
The skilled migration is an integral part of Australia’s prosperity. Though, it is important for the immigration authorities to select the right foreign workers for the right skill shortages in Australia, as quoted by SBS News.
