Total number of EOIs required for Australian newly regional 491 for Family-Sponsored

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) has suggested that mainly NON-PRO RATA occupations on (MLTSSL) Medium and long term strategic skill list will now be invited for 491 family-sponsored visas. It will become almost impossible to get invitations under PRO-RATA occupation because these places will be taken up by an Australian 189 visa in each round. Thus, it is equivalent to the old 1489 policy.
As per DHA, it is stated that” If all the places are used up by Australian Subclass 189 visas, further there will be no invitations that are issued for Regional Subclass 491 under these occupations”.
According to estimation by DHA, there are approx. 18,000 EOIs (Expression of Interest) for NON-PRO RATA occupations in the skill select system under (MLTSSL) medium and long term strategic skill list.
On their rough estimation, there are around 30% EOIs out of 18000, having some relative in Australia who is holder of permanent residency or citizen and around 20% EOIs is now designated regional areas of Australia.
