Outcomes of discussion to be held at Australian National Migration Conference

It has been observed that the National conference which is conducted by the Australian migration Alliance that was held on 15th November 2019 (Friday) with presenting over 700 migration agents.
Various topics have been discussed throughout this session includes as under:
  • Discussion on updating NSW, Victoria, BSMQ in terms of skills migration program and business skills program.
  • On TSS visas and transitioning employees to permanent residence.
  • On Representation of a candidate at Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
  • Talk on presentation of the Orana region, particularly focused on DAMA.
  • At last, discussion on Mock AAT hearing.
It was such a delighted to host the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) that offered perceptive updates concerning newly regional skilled visa (Subclass 491). This was done, following through an update on Immigration Program management and delivery on some visas like Skilled and Investment visas, Temporary Migration with an updating on Global Talent Initiative. At last, an update on the provision of unlawful migration assistance along with an update on the migration advice industry.

Tougher character requirements for Australian Immigration

The Australian Immigration department could have their visa cancelled under proposed laws to tighten the character test. In the proposed changes, the visa-holders who have committed a crime that carries a maximum sentence of at least two years such as common assault, will automatically fail the character test, even if they are not sentence to jail. This legislation was introduced last month by the Immigration Minister David Coleman last month. The other test which was changed in 2014 to allow the government to deport non-citizens sentenced to at least 12 months jail for their crime. This has resulted in more than 1,000 kiwis being sent back between 2016 and 2018.
Adding to concerns about the proposed changes is that they will apply retrospectively meaning anyone who has committed a crime covered by the laws in the past could be deported on character grounds.
