Meet your partner visa in Australia

If you found your partner come along with you and wish to live together or reunite in a particular country, then Australia places at topmost priority. Bringing your spouse seems quite easy in Australia. The Government of Australia offers various opportunities to the partner or spouse of the Australian PR holder.  
Australian Partner visa forms a part of the family migration stream and it facilitates non-citizens to come and remain within the country based on a spouse or de facto relationship. The desired applicants for the partner visa should be sponsored by permanent residents or citizens of Australia.
As per the DIBP, there are two kinds of Partner visa through which the aspirants can apply:
  • Subclass 100: The Australian Partner (Migrant) visa (Subclass 100) enables the spouse or de facto partner of a permanent resident or citizens of Australia to stay and work permanently in Australia. This Subclass visa generally granted to applicants who hold a temporary Subclass 309 visa.

  • Subclass 309: The Australian Partner (Provisional) visa (Subclass 309) lets your spouse or de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen or permanent resident to live in Australia temporarily. By holding the Subclass 309 visa for 9 months by showing a genuine relationship with your partner, you can further get a permanent partner visa (Subclass 100). Under the Subclass 309, the applicants are required to apply when they are outside of Australia.
