The Complete Guide to Obtaining a Permanent Resident Visa in Australia

The Australia PR Visa is drawing many foreigners from all over the world due to its clear laws, simple processes, and improved immigration policies. However, when it comes to India, applications have exploded in recent years. The whole information about the Australian Permanent Resident Visa is presented below for your convenience.

What is a Permanent Resident Visa in Australia?

The visa is only available to non-citizens of Australia. The procedure is not only well-organized and structured, but it is also advanced enough to evaluate applications based on an individual's qualifications.

A PR visa holder can stay in Australia indefinitely once it is obtained. In addition, a five-year travel permit is provided. The bearer of this travel facility is able to leave and return to Australia until it expires.

Permanent residents have the same rights and advantages as citizens, including as access to subsidised or free health and legal services. However, unless he or she is registered before 1984, a PR visa holder does not have the freedom or right to vote in state/territory or federal elections.

After a certain amount of time has passed, a permanent resident is eligible for citizenship. After this time has passed, the candidate must take a citizenship exam and complete a few more requirements. This might take anything from 3 to 12 months.

Note: If the bearer of a PR visa is found guilty of a criminal offence, the visa can be revoked at the discretion of a competent minister.

Requirements for a Permanent Resident Visa in Australia

As previously stated, an Australia PR visa is based on a point system. As a result, the acquisition process includes a combination of offline and online operations. The following are the main prerequisites for it:

1. Keep all of your documents in one place.

Aside from schooling and normal travel paperwork, a person will need two major documents:

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score to determine an applicant's English proficiency.
  • The outcome of a skill evaluation conducted by an evaluating authority to determine how proficient a candidate is in a certain sector.

2. Choose a Visa That Is Appropriate

Recognize that there are many sorts of PR visas available in Australia. As a result, it is critical that a candidate selects the option that best meets his or her needs. Listed below are the most popular categories:

  • State Nominated PR Visa (Subclass 190)
  • Non-sponsored visa (subclass 189)
  • Subclass 186 – Nominated by an employer visa

3. Select a profession from the SOL list.

Following the selection of a specific PR visa, an applicant must pick a profession from the SOL (Skilled Occupation List).

4. Use a point-based system to apply.

After completing the aforementioned procedures, the candidate must apply directly to Australia's point-based system. He or she must do so by filling out an EOI (Expression of Interest) form on the Australian Skill Select System's website. Skill Select is an online system that saves and maintains information about an applicant's profile, such as name, age, gender, job experience, language ability, and qualification.

The algorithm assigns points based on the profile variables. To apply for a PR visa using the system, an applicant's cumulative score must be at least 60 points. The greater the points, the more likely you are to receive an invitation to apply for a PR visa.

5. Health and Character Requirements

Aside from the aforementioned qualifications, a candidate must also fulfil his or her character and health standards. An applicant's moral character must be strong, and he or she must be cognitively capable of working and living in Australia.

Benefits of an Australia PR Visa

  • A PR visa holder has total flexibility to pursue any course of study that he or she desires.
  • A PR visa holder can live and work in Australia indefinitely, with the ability to travel freely both within and outside of the country.
  • A PR visa holder is eligible for health insurance provided by the Australian government.
