Updates on the Processing of Immigration Applications in Australia

The Department of Home Affairs began immigration processing across all visa cases following the reopening of international crossings on February 21, 2022, for fully vaccinated visa holders, and is now working through a substantial backlog of outstanding visa applications. Fragomen has noticed processing delays for all sorts of visas, including onshore visas that need health tests. In New South Wales and Victoria, health examination bookings through Bupa Medical Visa services are currently restricted, leading to visa processing delays.

Applications for jobs not on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List are still being processed with delays (PMSOL). However, Fragomen has noted that more recently lodged applications are being completed within conventional time frames, including improvements in time frames for offshore TSS 482 visa applications due to the increased availability of health assessment appointments. The Department of Home Affairs will continue to prioritize jobs on the PMSOL and in important sectors, and applications will be processed according to government processing priorities.
