Northern Territory finds shortage of skilled migrants under DAMA II Australia

Australian state of Northern Territory (NT) businesses sought to fill 520 vacant positions with skilled migrants in the year 2019. This is a major change followed by NT Designated Area migration agreement (DAMA) which observed a 263% year on year increase.
DAMA II is a bilateral agreement between Australian Government and Northern Territory (NT) which come into force on 1st January 2019 with inclusion of permanent residency pathway for visa aspirants after working within the territory for a minimum 3 years.
As a result of this inclusion, local businesses have requested to fill up with 520 positions of skilled workers in the first year of DAMA II and almost 573 positions sought for the entire first four years of first DAMA.
Alongside, Migration Northern Territory endorsed about 52 local businesses and entered into labor agreements with Department of Home Affairs (DHA). These types of businesses can now recruit oversees workers in the positions that they have not been filled up by Australians.

Moreover, further 37 businesses have taken endorsement from Migration NT and they are allowed to work with labor agreements of Home Affairs. Under the new agreement, is identifies 117 shortage of occupations in which the employers are able to fill with skilled international workers, for up to 36 on the first DAMA.
Employers can apply for fill positions with overseas national. But before that they first have to demonstrate they have been unable to fill vacant positions locally. The first four year DAMA between Australia and NT governments introduced in 2015. It was the first in the Australia where a wide range of shortage of occupations are presently available than those identified in standard skilled migration programs.
